Cooperative Doctoral Program in Nursing

The doctoral course has been established jointly by five colleges administered by the Japanese Red Cross Academy. Students on the doctoral course, which has adopted a high-speed/bidirectional, remote class-teaching system, can receive educational/research advice from supervisors of the five colleges.

EDUCATIONAL GOALS

1. To train researchers who have the advanced research abilities required to conduct research independently
2. To train educators in nursing who can implement high-quality nursing education in a cultivated manner with senses of flexibility and vision,and encourage them to develop skills for education-related development, the implementation of education, and problem-solving
3. To encourage doctoral students to develop perspective points of view and teaching/coordination skills so that they will be able to fulfill the roles of leaders in practical, clinical nursing, and educational settings
4. To encourage doctoral students to develop the skills required in the fields of health, medical, and welfare care in Japan and other countries.

ADMISSION POLICY

1. People who have expertise in health, medical, and welfare care, and are motivated to learn more deeply in these fields
2. People with an inquiring mind who are motivated to conduct the nursing activities of the Red Cross
3. People who are motivated to widen the scope of their activities and promote the advancement of nursing
4. People who are determined to conduct creative research in collaboration with specialists from a variety of fields
5. People who are motivated to systematize knowledge and experiences acquired by practicing nursing in society and revolutionize it
6. People who are motivated to publish research findings from an international perspective in Japan and other countries
7. People who are determined to learn with sincerity and become teachers with a keen sense of ethics and a rich personality
